Tom Craig and Thomas Sorsby, the two main architects of Dragons’ win in the previous match, were kept quiet in the first quarter. Soorma’s defence, led by captain Harmanpreet Singh, held firm until the 27th minute before conceding twice in three minutes, handing the opposition advantage going into the half-time break.
For the opening goal, Chandan Yadav was left unmarked on the right flank. The Indian slapped a grounder and Selvaraj put it past goalkeeper Vincent Vanasch. A familiar defensive error followed, with Karthi Selvam given too much space inside the circle. His initial fumble did not matter, as Uttam Singh seized the ball and doubled the lead.
